once in a lifetime
the chance comes to seize the moment, the day
only once we are given the chance
to keep hold of what is given to us
and to not let it slip through our fingers
during the darkness of the night
many say we may get as many chances as we would like
in order to obtain what we have foolishly lost
but only those which are thought to be worthy of a second chance
are given one
only those who have a promising future
a future of hope, a future of love
and of prosperity and commitment
those who do not comprehend the meaning of love
do not appreciate the gift of life
or do not truly care about what they possess
are never given a true second chance
but only a half-hearted favor
for they would never take the time
to truly love, honor, and cherish the breathing angel of love
standing beside them trying to carry them in their wings
to a blissful change in the course of a hell-flamed life
because the atmosphere of darkness was fatal
but i was taught better then to let a good thing pass me by
yet at one time i did
but i once again reclaimed the love God had given me

the privilege of receiving
because i realized it’s even worse to let a great thing pass by
the one person who can look at me
and take away any uneasy feeling
any discomfort
any pain
God loved me enough, as well as you, to bring us back to each other
to let us have a second chance
at this pure, beautiful, blossoming flower which we have created
the flower of love, that with each second of happiness

we share together
is being watered with honesty, trust, and all other components that come together
to create the species of love
